After a year of COVID restrictions coming and going I continue to work with a mixture of home visits and remote access, although most of my appointments now take place at people's houses again. I take a lateral flow test twice a week and take sensible precautions including wearing a face mask, ensuring rooms are ventilated, and using sanitiser.

Lockdown 2! After a few months of being able to visit people at home again we're back to restrictions for the next few weeks. I am still able to come to your house if you have problems that need hands-on fixing, provided we don't need to be in the same room as each other. If practical, I am happy for you to deliver your troublesome device to my home where I can fix any problems and return it fully sanitised. For tutorials and guidance, then a combination of video calls, phone calls and remote screen access are once again the norm, and are surprisingly fun and successful. Feel free to call me to find out how I can best meet your needs.

Due to the easing of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions I am now able to offer home visits again if necessary but obviously I'd still prefer to help remotely where possible. I have become well-practised at sanitising, distancing and hands-off working. I have my own keyboard and mouse to plug in to your computers and am finding that clingfilm is an fantastic option for wrapping almost anything in a protective layer while still giving me full access to the controller, phone, tablet, even laptop within!
COVID-19 situation:
Just a quick update to let you know how I can continue to help you with technical problems and questions in the coming weeks.
Obviously I can no longer offer home visits. But I have had great success with my new remote access tool that lets me connect to your PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android phones & tablets. This means you & I can look at the same screen at the same time, and in most cases I am able to control your device too, with your permission of course. It possible to do almost as much as I can in person and is remarkably easy to set up.

I had a very successful 2-hour tutorial with a client helping her get to grips with her new Galaxy smartphone that I'd set up for her in advance. We managed to combine a Zoom video chat on our iPads with remote access between her phone and my computer. Bear in mind this was a client who does not consider herself to be a confident user of technology - she did brilliantly. We had a very productive session answering all her questions, large & small, and it was very enjoyable too.
Although I haven’t had to try it yet, problems with routers and printers, for example, could be easier to solve by using video conferencing so I can see what’s happening through the camera on your device.
So you see, almost anything should be possible with calm patience and a sense of humour! Please don’t hesitate to call me, I’d love to help. And if you know of anyone else who needs help, please pass on my contact details.
